WOWzer Technologies Inc. ("WOWzer," "we," "us," or "our") operates the WOW BookSwitch service ("Service"), which provides QuickBooks Desktop to Xero conversion services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.
This Privacy Policy applies to users in both Canada and the United States and is designed to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) in Canada and applicable U.S. privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you register for our Service, we collect:
- Full name and business name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Business address
- Payment information (processed securely through third-party payment processors)
2.2 QuickBooks Desktop Data
When you upload QuickBooks Desktop files for conversion, we process the following types of financial and business data:
- Chart of accounts and account balances
- Customer and vendor information (names, addresses, contact details)
- Employee information
- Invoices, bills, and payment records
- Transaction history and journal entries
- Tax codes and classifications
- Bank and financial account information
- Any other data contained within your QuickBooks Desktop file
2.3 Xero Organization Data
When we connect to your Xero organization to complete conversions, we access and process similar categories of financial data as listed above, as necessary to complete the migration and validation process.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our conversion services
- Process and complete QuickBooks Desktop to Xero migrations
- Generate validation reports for your review
- Communicate with you about your conversions and account
- Process payments and send invoices
- Provide customer support
- Improve and optimize our services
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
4.1 WOW Backup and Restore
As part of our Service, your converted Xero organization data is shared with WOW Backup and Restore (wowbackupandrestore.com), our affiliated backup service, to provide you with six (6) months of complimentary backup protection. WOW Backup and Restore is operated by WOWzer Technologies Inc. and is subject to the same privacy and security standards as WOW BookSwitch.
4.2 Service Providers
We may share your information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): Cloud hosting and data storage
- Payment processors: To process your payments securely
- Customer support tools: To provide assistance and communication
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
4.4 No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your data, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure cloud infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services
- Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel

6. Data Retention
We retain your QuickBooks Desktop files and conversion data for a period of ninety (90) days following completion of your conversion to allow for any necessary corrections or re-processing. After this period, source files are securely deleted from our systems.
Account information and transaction records may be retained longer as necessary for legal, tax, or business purposes.
7. Your Privacy Rights
7.1 Canadian Users (PIPEDA)
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information held by us
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent for data processing (subject to legal or contractual restrictions)
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada
7.2 U.S. Users
Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights, including:
